Fishermans Arms is a 19th century riverside pub in Golant, near Fowey. Under new management, they felt that their branding and website needed a visual update.
Eek! The original website hadn’t changed since 2006, and had several conflicting design elements. The result was off-putting to tourists and holidaymakers, which are a key focus for the pub with its proximity to the nearby town of Fowey.
The new website was built to be responsive; any device would be able to display it. That was one of the most crucial factors, as mobile phones are used for finding pubs and restaurants far more than desktops or laptops!
The pub wanted to keep the same imagery of their old logo, but wanted it updated. My job was to make a design that was timeless, as the old one looked quite outdated. There were no digital copies of the old logo, so I photographed the old sign on-location and recreated it digitally, to then further develop.
Some of the initial variations of the logo. It’s now used to consistently brand the pub’s signage, menus, and social media. Visit the pub’s website at www.fishermansarmsgolant.co.uk
